M11 Videos Review

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.

• Dada and Surrealism
• Expressionism

I choose this two videos because I wanted to gain more insight on expressionism and surrealism connected to art.

2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

-the Dada movement was created based on World War 1

-surrealism is a way to increase artist creation

-artist creations are boosted based on the unconscious mind and ideas

-imagery used to boost content and examine the correlation between the used of color, space, texture, and pattern in paintings/ connected to color emotional properties

-a person's knowledge of paintings increase their appreciation 

2. How do the videos relate to the readings?

The videos relate to the readings because it corresponds to the use of imagery and the connect a person can experience through art. It also connects to the correlation between the conscious and unconscious mind of a person during art creation.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?

I thought the films were informative and more understandable, however they were a bit long. I felt as though a few of the videos were going through in depth analysis of artworks which distracted from the key concepts in the videos.
